I am sitting here on Belle Isle in Detroit, Michigan catching up on some paperwork and I am so amazed at where we stand as a company here at Rauhorn Electric.
We just completed another volunteer event. Today, we cleaned up brush and old fencing for the DNR office on Belle Isle. I am proud to say Rauhorn had the most volunteers at this event and we accomplished A LOT. I actually wish we had more time as we didn’t get to do any final grading or restoration, but that is actually being done at a later date. We were mainly the demo team.
I sit back and look at the skyline of Detroit, MI and Windsor, ON and realize that I am in charge of a great group of people. I am Lucky to be where I am, and Lucky to have such a great group of employees that care about each other and the job they are doing. I realize that this group is re-energizing a Metropolis. Literally. They are working day in and day out to replace the existing underground electrical system in one of the largest cities in the United States. The entire underground electrical system! That is a huge undertaking that is again, LITERALLY re-energizing a city that also is being figuratively re-energized by the many companies and people that believe in it also.
I am so proud to be a part of all of this.
Detroit’s Motto was coined by Father Gabriel Richard after a terrible fire swept through the city in 1805. The motto is “Speramus Meliora; resurget cinerbus” which means, “We hope for better things; it shall arise from the ashes.” 200 years later I believe we are rising from the ashes and starting to see the “Better things” come to Life.
